In this post we are going to look at the Part Time Beauty Course option.

PART TIME BEAUTY – ITEC OR CIBTAC OR BOTH

The part time beauty course is the perfect way to get an insight into the beauty world as well as being qualified to get a job at the end of your course.

ITEC is one of the most well known qualifications in the beauty industry. Based in the UK, it has over 39 centres around the world. The ITEC Diploma is awarded to students who have passed the ITEC examinations, both theory and practical as well as providing their case studies prior to exams starting. The pass rate for ITEC is 60% (this is one of the differences on the CIDESCO course where the pass rate is 70%).

CIBTAC is another well known qualification and carries the same level of qualification as ITEC. Again based in the UK, CIBTAC has been training students since 1977. They have over 150 centres throughout 26 countries around the world, have over 55 qualifications to choose from and over 1500 graduates per year. The course work for both of these qualifications is very similar which is why The Galligan College encourage students to work towards both qualifications.

After graduating, your Diploma will help you get your foot in the door and get started with your beauty career. Unlike the CIDESCO qualification you will only cover the skincare and eye section. This also includes makeup, waxing and manicure/pedicure. There is one more section that some colleges don’t do and it is an important one – this is Facial Electricals. These days if a graduate does not have a facial electricals qualification it makes it very hard for a beauty salon to hire them. Why is that? Well if you don’t have the qualification to work with machines you won’t be able to do many of the most popular facials which is one of the biggest earners for beauty salons. As well as this, the facial electrical section gives you a Level 3 qualification which in turn allows you to go on and study in a number of other areas including Advanced Skincare, do a Fillers course among many others. Whatever course you look at make sure that they include the Facial Electricals section!

WHY DO PEOPLE STUDY PART – TIME INSTEAD OF FULL TIME?

There are so many different reasons as to why someone will study part time. Here are some of the main reasons we see:

  • They have a passion for beauty but not sure if they want to work in the beauty industry full time. They may want to start off as a side hustle and see if it is for them. The part time course allows students to study one day a week while still working so the commitment is not as much as the full time course.
  • They may have other financial commitments that makes it hard to choose the full time course as this is more expensive than the part time course.
  • They may want to change careers but still need an income so the part time beauty is perfect for this. By the end of the course if they know for sure that a beauty career is right for them, they can leave their job and start their dream job!
  • A student may have a family with small children that makes it difficult to get them looked after (it’s not impossible though plenty of students do this and we help as much as possible!)

The part time beauty course is just another path to starting your career in beauty. It is still a very intense course that covers a lot of areas but it is that bit more manageable for those with other commitments.
